1. How to Pick the Best AI Model for Your Business

A few days ago, I shared this on LinkedIn (let’s connect if you’re there!):

Clear winner: I'm on paid plans for both ChatGPT and Claude. I use both heavily for my work, sometimes asking them the exact same question.

ChatGPT (GPT-4.5) is superior to Claude (3.7 Sonnet).

I know many will disagree, especially for coding tasks. But when it comes to writing, brainstorming, or critiquing, ChatGPT wins hands-down.

Of course, this could change as models evolve, but for now, OpenAI remains ahead in my opinion.

Since then, I’ve received a ton of thoughtful comments, some agreeing, some pushing back. But there was one recurring theme: it depends.

And I completely agree.

I primarily use ChatGPT and Claude for my writing tasks, but if you’re deciding which AI model is best for your business, the real question is: depends on what?

At a high level, you want to optimize for three things:

  1. Intelligence — How capable and reliable is the model?

  2. Speed — How fast does it respond?

  3. Cost — How much does it cost to run at scale?

The right choice will vary depending on your needs. To help you out, there’s a fantastic free tool called Artificial Analysis that lets you visually compare models across these three dimensions.

Here’s a snapshot from their April 3, 2025 data (keep in mind, these numbers shift often):

The takeaway

  • If you care about saving money, Gemini 2.0 Flash or GPT-4o mini offer some of the most affordable options.

  • If speed is your top priority, Gemini 2.0 Flash seems to be the fastest.

  • And if you’re optimizing for intelligence, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental or o3-mini (high) currently top the charts.

(Spoiler: Google is quietly doing very well across all three categories, but again, those rankings can change any day.)

2. I Let an AI Agent Handle My Call — Here's Where It Struggled

AI agents are becoming increasingly useful for automating everyday tasks.

I recently tried a new one called Super Agent from Genspark.AI. It's designed to help with common tasks — including actually making phone calls on your behalf.

You can watch a demo from the CEO here.

The tool is impressive, but it’s not without some challenges.

For example, I asked the Genspark Super Agent to call a travel agency my daughter is working with to ask about dietary restrictions for an upcoming trip. I provided the agent with some basic details, and it got to work.

It successfully completed a few calls, but it ran into a few issues:

  1. On-hold music confusion — The agent misinterpreted parts of the on-hold music as human speech and attempted to converse with it.

  2. Dropped calls — The connection dropped a couple of times while it was speaking with a customer service rep, likely due to network errors.

  3. Rep skepticism — On the fourth attempt, the rep immediately hung up after hearing the robotic voice, probably assuming it was a robocall.

To me, issue #3 is the most significant. If agents sound too robotic, they risk getting treated like spam before they even get a word in.

I’m going to keep experimenting and see if there are workarounds, but I wanted to share this early experience.

While the tech is promising, I think we still have some ground to cover before AI agents like this go fully mainstream.

4. Quick News (To Keep You Informed as a Business Leader)

  • Google on AGI by 2030: Google published a detailed report and article about AGI safety and the biggest takeaway is that we could have AGI (or Artificial General Intelligence, which is defined as a system capable of matching at least the 99th percentile of skilled adults across a wide range of non-physical tasks) by as early as 2030

  • OpenAI Image Generation: Last week, OpenAI released 4o image generation. This now solves the problem of rendering text, following prompts and building on images via text (with some really impressive results). If you’ve seen some of the “Studio Ghibli” images floating around, those were most probably generated using OpenAI latest 4o update.

  • xAI acquires X: Elon Musk announced that xAI has bought X in an all-stock transaction for $33B respectively. According to Musk “This combination will unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach.
